The Shingles virus is known as the herpes zoster virus. It is possible for anyone who has had chicken pox or the vaccination for chicken pox to get Shingles.

When a person is infected with the chicken pox virus (varicella-zoster), they become infected with the herpes zoster virus and when it activates, Shingles is the result. It is highly contagious.

The chicken pox virus lies dormant in the body within the root of nerves that are responsible for sensation. The virus will travel along the sensory nerve into the skin and this is what causes shingles.

Typically, the average age that people develop shingles is over 50, but it can strike anyone, even children. It is believed that approximately 1 million people in the U.S. get Shingles each year. However,

What are the Symptoms of the Shingles Virus?

Symptoms of Shinges Virus appear in stages. The first thing that someone may notice is sensitivity to light or a headache. They often feel like they have the flu, but do not run a fever. As the Shingles symptoms progress, the person may feel a tingling sensation, itching or pain in a particular area.

This area is where a rash will appear in a few days. The rash may appear in a strip or band like configuration. Once the rash appears, it will turn into blisters, which fill with fluid. Some people get a very mild rash and others do not develop one at all. It usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks for the rash to disappear and often it will leave scars.

The Symptom of Shingles Virus also include feeling weak or dizzy or both and a rash can appear on the face. There have been reported changes in vision and confusion as well. Although most people develop an immunity to the Shingles virus after having it, some can have a recurrence.

People with a weakened immune system are more susceptible to a recurrence as are those receiving chemotherapy and people who are HIV positive.

Although there are antiviral drugs that are often used to treat the Shingle virus, there is also a natural treatment. The antiviral drugs include acyclovir, acyclovir and valacyclovir. When used immediately they have shown results for relieving the severity of Shingles and the period of time they last. The natural treatment, which many people prefer comes from the Shegoi plant.

Also known as Larrea Tridentata or the Creosote Bush, an extract from this plant, formerly known as Virastatin has been used by people for thousands of years for the healing properties it has shown.

The extract now known as Larreastatin has powerful immune enhancing properties. A lowered immune system is one of the reasons a virus can invade the body. A virus increases the number of free radicals within the body, because sometimes the cells create free radicals to neutralize viruses.

The body can usually handle free radicals unless there is a decrease in the amount of antioxidants. If the body produces too many free radicals this can cause damage. Free radical damages also increases with age.

In addition, the extract from the Shegoi plant has undergone over 18 years of research and studies in 1996 show the success rate of 97.8% when it comes to effectively treating the Shingles virus among other viral infections.

There is another product that is particularly helpful in providing the antioxidants needed to fight free radicals. Although a balanced diet is a source of many antioxidants, it is often lacking.

Vemma is a powerful antioxidant liquid that will provide vitamins and minerals as well. All of these are needed to fight free radicals and limit damage while doing so.
